Opening of the spectacular, free Outdoor Photo Exhibition by Her Royal Highness Princess Irene of The Netherlands

From May 27 to August 30 The Hague will host the World Premiere of Wild Wonders of Europe. A free-of charge Outdoor Exhibition at the Lange Vijverberg with around 100 life-size nature photos from 69 top photographers, taken in 48 European countries. The official inauguration of this unique cultural event will take place on Thursday, May 27 by HRH Princess Irene, patron of the “Biodiversity Coalition 2010”.

Wild Wonders of Europe reveals the stunning natural treasures of our continent to 700 Million Europeans and the world. Animals and landscapes, many of which most of us wouldn’t know exist. Wild Wonders of Europe, a unique pan-European initiative, is about the beauty of nature. About what we can admire now, but are at risk of losing. An exhibition that shows why European nature is important for us. And why we need to protect it.

100 life-size nature photographs taken by 69 of Europe’s finest photographers can be admired on the Lange Vijverberg in The Hague from May 27 to August 30. Selected from almost 200.000 images taken over a period of fifteen months for this unique project, the quality of these pictures brings to the exhibition an enormous emotional power. Each European country is represented with at least one photo and many more can be seen on the Wild Wonders of Europe website.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, the municipality of The Hague and Staatsbosbeheer made it possible for the Wild Wonders of Europe Exhibition to come to The Netherlands.  The Hague will host the World premiere of this unique cultural event during the International Year of Biodiversity. As 2nd UN-city in the world and greenest city of The Netherlands this Outdoor exhibition fits The Hague perfectly. Wild Wonders of Europe is one of the events during The Hague Festivals 2010 from 10 to 27 June ( The outdoor exhibition is intended to then tour all 48 European countries and North America in the coming years.

The Wild Wonders of Europe Outdoor Exhibition is organized by Life Exhibitions who in the past were responsible for other cultural events including “Spirit of the Wild” and “The Earth from Above”. Among the more than 50 international partners are WWF, National Geographic, Epson, Nikon and Nokia. Leading dignitaries and many of the 69 photographers will be attending the opening launch.
