Cascade de Tufs, Reculée Les Planches, France

by Hillebrand Breuker,

Reculee is a geological term that the deep erosion in the limestone plateau of the Jura indicates. It is a typical valley which you can find in the Jura department of France. I created this image of the waterfall - which seems to come from nowhere - at the Reculée Les Planches near Arbois. The camera I used was a Canon eos 5D with a EF 70-200/f4 L lens. I wanted a long shutter time (1 sec.) to realise a sense of motion in the water. To avoid camera shake I therefor used a stable tripod and a cable release. I was very happy that there was almost no wind this morning. Motion blur on the leaves of the little tree could have been very disturbing in this image.
